HARASSMENT, INTIMIDATION, AND BULLYING (HIB)

Every school district shall designate one person in the district as the primary contact regarding the anti-harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB) policy. That primary contact person receives copies of all formal and informal complaints, is responsible for assuring implementation of HIB policy and procedure, and is the primary contact on the policy and procedures between the school district, the Office of the Education Ombudsman, and OSPI.

SIA's HIB Coordinator is Nate Pelton, Associate Principal (K-5). For any questions, concerns, or to report an incident, please email him at pelton@spokaneintlacademy.org.

If, after completing the school procedure above, there is still an unresolved issue, please reach out to Washington State Governor’s Office of the Education Ombuds (OEO) to request further assistance.  OEO’s staff includes Education Ombuds who work with families and schools across
the state to resolve problems that impact student learning. Ombuds can facilitate communication and collaborative problem-solving, but is not an enforcement agency.
