Students and staff of Spokane International Academy chose the Phoenix for the school's mascot at the beginning of our first year of operation. Our community felt that the Phoenix truly symbolized what opening a new school meant for all of us, a new beginning and a rebirth of how school could look and feel for the community that came together to form Spokane International Academy.

 

In Greek mythology the Phoenix is a bird that is regenerated or reborn cyclically. The Phoenix obtains new life by arising gloriously from the ashes of its predecessor, symbolizing renewal. SIA was born out of the life experiences of its staff and students, and with those unique perspectives and experiences in hand has given birth to a new educational opportunity for our local community.
