I want to first thank you for your interest in our school. In November 2013, following the passing of the charter school initiative in Washington state, a group of twelve dedicated educators, community members, university professors and parents met to answer one question; If we were to build a school that was designed to prepare our students for success in a global 21st century, what would it look like?

Over the course of the next nine months Spokane International Academy was created. We decided that we would need to focus on three things in particular at our school if we were to achieve the ambitious goal we had set for ourselves. The mission of Spokane International Academy is to empower its students with the academic skills, habits of mind and global competence necessary to complete advanced courses in high school and a college degree in order to become leaders who can powerfully transform our communities in the future. We believe by focusing on high academic standards, developing individuals with strong character and helping our students build and refine their international mindedness we are truly setting our students up for success regardless of the careers they choose in the future.

Our students will learn how to investigate the world, weigh multiple perspectives and clearly communicate their thoughts and ideas in order to take meaningful action to address the challenges faced in our community and abroad. SIA graduate's will have the skills and mindset necessary to be on the front lines of leading the change.

We agree deeply with Nelson Mandela when he said that, "Education is the most important weapon which you can use to change the world" and will work hard everyday to see that dream realized in our classrooms. If our core values and mission align with your family's we would love to have you join us as we work towards influencing the next generation of leaders for our community and others.
